Hi, My name is Stephen Silberkraus, and I am the former State Assemblyman for District 29. I first came to the Vegas Valley as a 10 year old boy and was amazed to see this diamond in the desert. It was the time that new casino hotels like Excalibur and Luxor were opening their doors to welcome families to the Strip. I may have only been here a couple of days, but it made an indelible mark on me.

Jump ahead 10 years and I found myself halfway through college and starting to think about my future. I thought not just about what I wanted to learn and do, but where I would want to do it. My cousin had recently moved to Vegas to work for Las Vegas Metro and spoke so highly of the city that I felt I needed to come and see. Well as many people did back in 2001 I found myself in a beautiful new home in Henderson being told that even as a college student I could afford my own home here. So in 2001, while still in college back at UCSB, I became a homeowner here in town.

From that moment on it was only a matter of time before I would call the Las Vegas valley my home. This town has given me so much. An amazing community to be part of, an incredible woman to call my wife, two healthy, happy, beautiful little boys who are the light of my life, and an opportunity to give back to my neighbors for all that I have been given.

Over the years I have volunteered and served in leadership roles with many great groups around the valley, such as the Boy Scouts, Opera Las Vegas, the Sons of the American Legion, Rotary, and many more. This involvement in our community showed me where several things were just not working for our state, and that lead me to run for the State Legislature, and serve as the Assemblyman for District 29 in Henderson.

During my time in the Legislature, my main focus was on education reform. I fought to pass the most sweeping K-12 education reforms our state has ever seen. That is why Governor Sandoval said that my "hard work to pass historic education reforms and to grow our economy has put Nevada on a positive path”. But that was just a start to building a stronger better Nevada.

It is my belief that if something is not good enough for my family or my children, then it is not good enough for any Nevadan. I have always fought to make sure that the field is fair, and that good hard-working people have the opportunity to build a better life.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me, and please email or call me at any time if you have questions or concerns. My email is  Stephen@Silberkraus.com, and my Personal Cell is (702) 900 - 0998.
